Hot Head Thermal Hair Care

Before I do my review for the Hot Head Deep Conditioning Heat Cap I would like to talk a bit about something i’m passionate about.   I love promoting and buying from small businesses, whether it be home-made items at a craft fair, stuff from Etsy, and even direct sales ; where actual people benefit from my business.    I think it’s important to support local businesses, and ‘real people’.   So, with that being said, you’re going to see a lot more businesses like I just mentioned coming up!  Of course, we’ll still be reviewing larger companies and our “usual” types of businesses, but more small businesses on top of that!  I’m excited, y’all!

Okay, now on to the review.

About The Company :
Hot Head Thermal Hair Care is an Etsy shop.

Hot Head is a unique microwavable deep conditioning heat cap created by a professional hair stylist. It offers an easy and stylish way to achieve the results of a salon quality conditioning treatment at home. Each Hot Head is handmade with love, and constructed from quality natural materials.

The Hot Head heat cap is filled with renewable flax seed which will generate heat when warmed in the microwave. It’s reusable and is the most environmentally friendly way to deep condition your hair with heat at home. There is no need to plug it into an outlet or use batteries to power the heat. With a few minutes in the microwave Hot Head will produce up to 30-45 minutes of gentle moist heat (microwaves vary). The fact that there are no cords and no plugs means that you are free to move about while deep conditioning your hair.

There is a very sweet story behind Hot Head Thermal Hair Care which you can read about here

About The Products I Received :

I was sent the grey chevron reversible heat cap (ARP $29.95) and some plastic shower caps (ARP $3.25). When I first opened the package and picked up the Hot Head heat cap,  I was blown away at how well made it is.  It has a nice weight to it and the stitching is perfect.. I would say “it looks like something I’d buy in a store” but to be quite honest, it has much better quality and a better feel than anything I could buy in the store.

When I first saw these on Etsy I couldn’t figure them out.  Why do they need to be microwaved? What purpose does that hold?  So I read around a bit, and learned that when you deep condition your hair, or use an oil treatment in your hair, it is best to do that with open pores – both on your scalp and your hair follicles.  With your head being kept warm with the Hot Head Heat Cap the product you are using on your hair will ‘soak in’ and do it’s job so much better than without.

I love the fact I can microwave it and it stays warm, rather than a plugged-in cap being on my head.  I don’t even trust electrical heating pads, so you would never catch me with a heating pad type item on my head!

To use the Hot Head Heat Cap you must first use your hair product of choice.  I used both a hot oil treatment from the drug store, and because my hair is so long and I ran out, I also used regular ‘ol conditioner (which Hot Head suggests!) I rinsed my hair with warm-hot water and towel dried it a tad.  I put in the hot oil treatment and the conditioner, rung my hair ‘dry’, and rolled it into a bun on top of my head.  Some people use clips to hold their hair up.  I then stuck the plastic shower cap on, and went to microwave my Hot Head Heat Cap! You microwave it facing upwards for 1 minute, turn it inside out, and microwave for another minute, then again turn it back to how it started, for 30 seconds.  I put the heat cap on ontop of the shower cap, and continued on with my business for 30 minutes.   It was great to have so much freedom with it on my head.  I could vacuum and do dishes,  I was even tempted to go check the mail with it on, but it wasn’t time yet.. 😉

Once I had the heat cap on for 30 minutes I took it off, discarded the plastic shower cap and rinsed my hair out with cool water – it helps close the pores.  I noticed a huge improvement in my hair once I brushed it, and I still notice a difference when I brush it and handle it.   I think the Hot Head Thermal Heat Cap made a huge difference in my hair – and I recommend it for anyone who likes to deep condition their hair.

I put it on a plate first because I noticed some wax had dropped from the last time I made candles, and I didn’t have time to clean it.  Just a FYI – haha.
