Scholastic & Klutz – Perfect Easter Gifts

Books are great gifts to give for every occasion. We always encourage our children to read and one way we do this is to give them new books throughout the year.  Birthdays, Christmas, Easter or just because, they get at least 1 book each. If you took a look at our bookshelf, you will see a wide range of books for every age group.

Books are a great way to expand children’s minds, and so much better than the typical candy and chocolate you would give them at Easter.  We have a list of books that we love below, for just about every age group.

When a plane goes down in the arctic, eight young survivors step from the wreckage expecting to see nothing but ice and snow. Instead, they find themselves lost in a strange jungle with no way to get home and little hope of rescue.

Food is running out. Water is scarce. And the jungle is full of threats unlike anything the survivors have ever seen before—from razor-beaked shredder birds to carnivorous vines to the mysterious predator stalking the wilderness in the dead of night, whose chilling cries seem to be getting closer . . .

In Horizon, bestselling author Scott Westerfeld brings his visionary talents to a harrowing tale of mystery and menace—a supernatural survival story in which the smallest decision can be a matter of life and death, and the greatest threat of all just might be the kid standing next to you.

Another item we love to gift, are arts and crafts items.  Did you know Klutz is a subsidiary of Scholastic?

Klutz Jr.: My Hand Art

Klutz Jr. My Hand Art teaches kids how to draw 20 hand art designs. Pom-poms, goggly eyes, glue, and crayons are all included to promote fine motor skills and make this the handiest book and craft kit around!

Klutz: Sew Mini Animals

Stitch and stuff an assortment of fuzzy animals from felt! These mini plushies deliver full-sized fun, and everything you need to make up to 14 animals is included.

My niece came over, over march break, and it was too cold to play outside, so my daughter and niece wanted to do some crafts. I pulled out the Sew Mini Animals for them to work on, and they sat quietly and worked on the bat together.  They had some trouble with a few things and asked for a little help to cut the smaller parts, the bat they made together may not be perfect, but they definitely had fun!

We love these Klutz activities.  My children get excited when they finish one of the crafts with little to no help from us.

These Klutz books make a perfect gift, perfect for rainy or cold days, or those days where the kids keep saying they’re bored!

I think that these books.. especially the touch and feel ones, make a book even more exciting to read. I am a baby boomer (lol) and we just had the “read” type. Thank You for your review. 🙂

  2. Karen E Hill says:

I have always been a reader, starting early in life! I can remember hiding under the sheets with a flashlight. My love of books did not transfer to my children and its sad. Every child should be read to and have books at an early age so the love can grow.
