When to Replace Your Tires on Your Car

Your vehicle can cost you thousands a year. From gas to maintenance, the costs to upkeep your car is incredible.

One of the biggest things that drivers neglect is their tires. They check their car oil, their windshield wipers, the cosmetic, but for some reason, most people neglect their wheels. Your used ones can become deflated from driving, from your local roads, and even due to the temperature. Although strong, they can incur wear and tear to its rubber surface.

Depending on what kind of vehicle you have, buying new wheels can be expensive. A set can cost you over a thousand dollars! How do you escape these monumental costs? Well, start by looking for used tires for sale.  Smart shoppers can buy used tires at a discount, at sometimes half the cost of what they would normally pay. These tires are from trusted brands such as Pirelli, Dunlop, Michelin, and Bridgestone, so buyers know that they are quality.

To know if you need to replace your tires is to check their tread wear bars that are between the tread of the wheel. They are the key indicator, besides flatness that determines if yours have reached the end of their life. If the tread wear bars are flush to the tread, it is time to get them replaced.

If you drive an all-wheel-drive vehicle, you should replace all of your tires at the same time, because they will all incur the same amount of wear due to their rotation and distribution. Front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive tires will wear at different times.

You can easily test the alignment of your vehicle by looking at your front and back tires. If your front tires are more worn then the back or vice versa, your alignment is probably a little off and should be checked.

Drivers need to be more aware of the wear of their wheels. They are the most key component in driving. Flat tires and worn tires will and can drastically affect your vehicle’s performance. Be mindful to check your tire’s tread and pressure regularly. Drive carefully!
