“Doctor Strange” Movie Review

Holy, Moly! Marvel Studios did a superb job with “Doctor Strange”. It’s unlike any movie I have ever seen before. This mixture of action and fantasy had me sitting on the edge of my seat with my eyes glued to the screen. With a fantastic storyline, amazing action scenes, and the necessary chuckle-inducing moments, this movie is sure to be a big success at the box office!

This incredibly entertaining film is about a very successful, yet arrogant, neurosurgeon named Dr. Stephen Strange. Unfortunately, Dr. Strange is involved in a horrendous car accident that leaves his hands severely injured. Without steady and competent hands, it appears as though Dr. Strange’s career as a doctor has ended, in which he, undoubtably, has a hard time accepting. Dr. Strange’s desperation and hope prevail when he learns of a new and unexpected possibility of recovery. As a man who firmly believes in medicine, it is difficult for Dr. Strange and his scepticism to accept the mysterious and spiritual ways he has stumbled upon. His life begins to drastically change as he learns about certain dangers and how to use magic to defeat them. Perhaps Dr. Strange’s purpose in life has shifted from that of a doctor, to a very impressive sorcerer, potentially capable of saving the world. Check out the trailer here.

As for the acting in this movie, I was super impressed by Tilda Swinton, who was casted as The Ancient One in “Doctor Strange”. She played such a neat character and did it so well! One of my favourite actresses, Rachel McAdams was also present in this movie. She stars as Christine Palmer, Dr. Strange’s ex-lover and coworker at the hospital. If you’re looking for a hint of romance in this film, Spider-Man style, you may be disappointed. The romantic moments between her and Dr. Strange are practically nonexistent. Luckily, the mind-blowing special effects made up for the lack of Rachel McAdams romance in this film. Paired with the 3D glasses, the crazy kaleidoscope movie magic was unbelievable!

Two thumbs up! “Doctor Strange” comes out in theatres November 4th. If you’re a Marvel fan, or even if you’re not, this movie is worth going to see.
